Mekakucity Actors,800,0,456-Mekaku_City_Actors_color_800px.png

I’ve tried my absolute best to understand Mekakucity Actors. I went out of my way to research all the songs and correlating characters. I’ve tried to come up with multiple interpretations and speculations as to
how and why certain things are the way they are. But in the end, Mekakucity Actors has plotholes that can’t be filled due to its own contradictions.

(I’m only talking about the anime, not the songs/novel/manga.)

I was hopeful for Mekakucity Actors and was determined to see it through to the end, but now I’m left disappointed.

To be fair. Not everything was bad. My troubles lie mainly with the overarching story and how it doesn’t make sense.
The majority of the episodes, which were just telling the backgrounds of the multiple characters, were all good.
Basically I liked all the individual episodes, only not the (lack of) connection between them.

Madoka Magica Rebellion

(Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part III: Rebellion)

Madoka Magica just got 10 levels deeper and has now passed the ‘End of Evangelion' level, at getting your mind fucked.

Thanks to Gen Urobuchi, Akiyuki Shinbou and all the people over at Shaft.

Madoka Magica was already at the top of my list of things I considered to be among the highest caliber of art in audiovisual storytelling.

But now with Rebellion, the story of Madoka Magica, (which already had a perfect ending before Rebellion) has gotten a LOT more complicated.

I prepared myself before I went and saw Rebellion because, how could they continue a story which already had a perfect ending that left very few questions left wanting to be answered? Usually that’s a red flag. Experience taught me that.

The answer is: Make it even deeper.

A lot…. deeper.

(Imagine that.. The story that involved: Magical Girls, alternate timelines and gods recreating the universe, getting even deeper.)

Halfway through the movie you’re not even sure what’s going on anymore, because it’s so hard to interpret. (But that’s just Shaft's trademark I suppose.)

(Which I love.)

Give me a story that I need to get involved in, to even slightly understand, over something that’s chewed out for me, any day of the week.

(Well maybe except for sundays, cuz then I’m too lazy to think that hard.)

Madoka Magica Rebellion is great, but if you don’t want the ‘perfect ending’ of Madoka Magica to be altered (which I understand), you won’t like Rebellion.

It fucks everything up, in the best way possible.

(kind of like what Evangelion 3.0 did. Which I also loved.)

Fate/stay night (completed)

After 5 months, with a total reading time of 70 hours.

I’ve finally finished Fate/stay night.

(Meaning: I read all 3 main routes with its 5 main endings and its 40 bad endings.)

Fate/stay night has some great art, which I’ll post in a series of 3 photosets showing the best art from the 3 main storylines. (I’ll leave out the NSFW stuff)

Anyway, spoilers ahead for Fate/stay night’s:

'Fate', 'Unlimited Blade Works' and 'Heavens Feel'.
